The Wind Rises

The Wind Rises is actually the title of a movie that I really want to see. It is by Hayao Miyazaki, and it opens in theaters nationwide tomorrow. However, the local theater will not be showing it, so I guess I will have to wait for the DVD. But I thought about that title today, because it's so very windy.

It was an unusually windy day. Bow, however, was not impressed. He went out several times and surveyed our property from his perch on the bench.

When I went for my walk after lunch, I was impressed by the wind. I could both see and hear it, and I could feel it on my face.

I could see it in the movements of the tall twin cedar at the far end of our pasture.

The wind played with the bare limbs of the trees in our woods.

The wind ran its fingers through the cedar in our back yard.

But when I got back from my walk, Bow asked to go outside again. And he was not impressed with the wind.

Bow just wanted to kick back and relax. The wind was no big deal to him.

  1. Even our local theater, and we are in somewhat larger area than you, does not have a wide variety of movies. Actually, one of the complaints seems to be they are always showing action movies or romantic comedies, and if you want to see something indie or foreign, you often have to go to LA

    1. Hi, Julia. I guess we are in the same boat in that respect. I am told that living in a bigger city is worth it because of all the "culture", but I think there are other ways to get culture than by paying for it with high taxes and urban congestion.

Eventually I will see that movie!

  2. One of my local theaters is advertising that the movie is coming soon. I saw a preview yesterday. But it doesn't seem to be opening there tomorrow.

    1. Hi, Nets, it is very surprising that even you, who live in a cultural center of movies and movie-making, would not have the movie showing at your local theater on the day Fandango advises it comes out nationwide!

  3. I've heard about the terrible winds you've been having. Here today we have a rainfall warning in effect. If its not snow it's rain and freezing rain. I've not heard of that movie but will have to keep my eye out for it. It seems that the city I live in though doesn't get a lot of the movies that Toronto does.

    1. Hi, Susan. We were lucky that nothing was broken by the wind, and we suffered no damage. It was fun to watch, though. I hope your rainfall is mild and causes no harm.
It's funny how all the people I know, no matter how distant their location from me, do not have access to a theater that is showing The Wind Rises today!
