Spring Giddiness

It is easy to feel giddy when spring is in the air. Everything all around us is blossoming.

Bow has his moments of quiet contemplation, of watching nature as it unfolds, of being a spectator and not a participant.

But at other moments, he becomes active and the center of attention.

This morning, playing with Leo, Bow became progressively more active. Sometimes I forget how naturally athletic he is, climbing the walls and hanging from the rafters.

Even when we think the game is over, it may not yet be. In the following clip, Bow was grooming my hand, and Leo summoned him to play some more. Bow went to join him and in the process he suddenly remembered how much fun it is to hang upside down from the ceiling.

You might think the swing is there for Bow to exercise on, but he often takes his exercise from the walls and beams of the enclosure, and then uses the swing for quiet relaxation.

When everything is in bloom, it is hard not get giddy sometimes.

Cool Weather, Exercise and Daffodils

The cold weather we have been having is a good time for exercise. This morning Bow went outside and shivered a little in the cool air.

Then Leo invited Bow to come and play. Bow was reluctant at first, but then he finally agreed.

After getting his fill of exercise, Bow did not feel as cold anymore. He yawned, all tension released from his system.

This afternoon on my walk after lunch, I saw that the first daffodil of the season has bloomed. Yesterday, it was still shut, but today it has opened.

When I came back from my walk, Bow asked to go outside again. It is still quite cool out, but Bow decided to enjoy what sun there was and spread out on his bench.

Life is good!

Outdoors and In

With the weather becoming more hospitable, Bow has been enjoying several outings per day. Yesterday, he even had his three o'clock snack in the outer pen.

This morning, before lunch, Bow got in a vigorous exercise session with the dogs.

After exercising to his heart's content -- and believe me, this is definitely aerobic exercise -- Bow enjoyed just hanging out.

I didn't get a video of this, but Bow traversed the entire width of the ceiling like this.

When he was done with his outdoor exercise, Bow was much more quiet and subdued. First he groomed my hand.

Then he asked for his blanket. And once he had the blanket, he sat down on it and was very quiet for a long, long time.

When we get enough opportunities to be rowdy and cut loose out-of-doors, we can also have many quiet moments indoors.
